The Jewish Women International of
Metropolitan Detroit will hold its annu-
al special gifts luncheon 11:45 a.m.
Thursday, Oct. 29, at
Mat Shalom
Synagogue to honor
Jeannie Weiner, their
first "Woman of
Achievement."
Keynote speaker
will be Randee
Lefkow, international
president of JWI. She Marsha Rofel
served as chair of the
committee that serves
the JWI Residential
Treatment Center, a
treatment facility for
emotionally disturbed
children in Israel.
Formerly executive
director of the
Randee Lefkow
Healthy Mothers'
Healthy Babies
Coalition in Broward County, Fla.,
Lefkow has been a JWI member since
1970. She was a JWI national vice presi-
dent from 1992-96 and has served as
chair of the Membership Expansion
Task Force as well as the Fiscal
Committee.
Lefkow has chaired the national JWI
Operation Stork project with the March
of Dimes, and served as president of the
Twin County Council and Aviva
Chapter of JWI.
Marsha Rofel, will provide a musical
interlude with her styling and vocal
artistry of standards and show tunes. She
received the international B'nai B'rith
Label Katz Young Leadership award. She
will be accompanied on the piano by
Martin Mandlebaum.

JPM Plans
Events, Classes

The Jimmy Prentis Morris Jewish
Community Center will host flutist Sara
Frank and pianist Carole Lasser in con-
cert 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22. This pro-
gram is free of charge.
Oakland County Health Division
will hold the Flu Immunization Clinic
10 a.m. to noon, at the JPM Friday,
Oct. 23. Bring Medicare and/or
Medicaid cards and a picture ID with
current address; $3 donation for persons

with no Medicare and/or Medicaid card.
An afternoon of entertainment is
planned with Sam Barnett and his
accompanist Fred Busch in a European
Coffee House atmosphere 12:45 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 26. This program is for
Holocaust Survivors, families and
friends.
Pianist Michael Krieger will perform
at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29. There is no
charge for this program.
Bingo will be held at 12:30 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 19. There is a donation
requested.
"Fabs" Kaldobsky will lead a discus-
sion of world famous composers and
their music. There is no charge.
The JPM will offer several new class-
es this fall. A Kosher Wine Tasting class
will be offered Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 7
p.m. The class will explore Kosher
Wines from Across the World. There is
a charge. Call JPM for information,

On Wednesday evening, Oct. 14,
Chef Annabel Cohen and dietician
Beverly Price will teach Kosher
Vegetarian Extravaganza, a two-hour
class. Call the Center to register.
The Rosh Chodesh Women's Lecture
Series will resume this fall and will focus ft.,
on the matriarchs. The first talk, about
Sarah, will be presented by Chanita
Weiner 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, and
is free of charge. Babysitting is available
for a fee by advanced registration.

Judge Addresses
Cardozo Socie ty

"Uncensored and Unplugged With
Judge Arthur J. Tarnow" will be the
topic of the next Cardozo Society break-
fast to be held 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct.
29, at the Max M. Fisher Building in
Bloomfield Hills.
"Uncensored and Unplugged" is one
of the many programs of interest for
members of the legal profession hosted
by the Cardozo Society.
Judge Tarnow is a judge in the U.S.
District Court for the Eastern District of
Michigan. He is adjunct professor of
criminal procedure and Constitutional
law at the University of Detroit Mercy
Law School.
Co-sponsors are Tau Epsilon Rho
Law Society and the Detroit Chapter of S
the International Association of Jewish
Lawyers and Jurists.
Members of the legal profession are
invited. Admission is free, and breakfast
will be served.
