Working at Yad
Ezra and distribut-
ing food to the needy was an espe-
cially meaningful part of his mitzvah
projects. A Bloomfield Hills Middle
School student, David loves sports,
especially hockey; he collects hockey
cards.

Ashley Nicole Levine will celebrate
her bat mitzvah at Havdalah services
on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Temple
Israel. She is the
daughter of Annise
Swartz-Levine and
Jeffery Levine and
sister of Jillian and
Jarret. Proud grand-
parents are Sandy
and Louis Levine
and Edythe and
Fred Swartz.
Mitzvah projects included volun-
teering at a shelter for abused
women and children; in addition she
assisted at Temple Israel's Labor Day
Picnic and for the Purim party. Ash-
ley is a student at Dunckel Middle
School in Farmington Hills and
enjoys dancing, playing the flute and
art. She is proud to have won a
bronze medal in dance at the Mac-
cabi Games.

Bryan Scott Zeitlin will be called to
the Torah as a bar mitzvah at Con-
gregation B'nai Moshe on Saturday,
Oct. 17. Bryan is
the son of Marlene
and Garry Zeitlin
and brother of
Allen and Caryn.
Proud grandparents
are Rebecca and
Sam Borak and Bar-
bara and Daniel
Allen. He is also the
grandson of the late Edward Rubin
and Allen Toby Zeitlin.
Bryan is an eighth grader at
Walled Lake Middle School in
Walled Lake. He enjoys talking on
the phone, AOL and television pro-
duction.

Alyssa Gail Torby will be called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Satur-
day, Oct. 17, at Adat Shalom Syna-
gogue. Alyssa is the daughter of Dr.

David J. and R.
Joyce Torby. Proud
grandparents are
Kenneth and Mil-
dred Torby. Alyssa
is also the grand-
daughter of the late
Alice and Aaron
Lenhoff. Also shar-
ing in the celebration will be Alyssa's
younger sister Michelle Elizabeth.
Alyssa is an honor student in the _
eighth grade at Warner Middle
School in Farmington Hills, where
she has maintained an all A average.
Her favorite subject is algebra. She
plays the viola and is active in foren-
sics. Alyssa has been invited to par-
ticipate in the Summer Institute for
the Gifted at Oberlin College in
Ohio for the past two years and was
a featured speaker at a program for -la"
prospective students. At Oberlin,
Alyssa has studied veterinary medi-
cine and biology, and has also taken
a course in mock trials and the jus-
tice system.
In her spare time, Alyssa enjoys
reading, writing and roller-skating.
Other favorite activities include
babysitting and caring for animals. _46,
For her mitzvah project, Alyssa made
contributions to the Jewish National
Fund and Yad Ezra. Alyssa's center-
pieces from her party will be donat-
ed to the Michigan Humane Society
and Orchard Children's Services.
