hit the second time around. It's a very
good way of saying, "Well, better to do
this than try out something new" It's
kind of an insurance policy.

JN: Is there another Barbra Streisand
tour in the works?
MH: It all depends on her. She will
decide to do it or not do it.

JN: What are your other projects?
MH: A troupe of actors made up of
Palestinians, Israelis and Arabs is-com-
ing to the U.N. to do a play. The
notion of the play is that they're all
looking for a new ending to the prob-
lems that they have because the same
ending is going nowhere. They asked
me to write a song for that, and it will
be performed [before I visit Detroit].
It's very exciting.

JN: How was her wedding?
MH: It was absolutely beautiful.
Nothing crazy happened. She had a
lovely rabbi who was very good. It was
really well done. ❑

JN: Are you doing anything to
engage children with music?
MH: I'm doing a 15-minute piece
called "Zin Zin the Violin," and it's
basically a guide to the orchestra. The
book with the same title sold a
tremendous number of copies so a lot
of kids know it. That's going to debut
in the middle of October.
