BARBARA SPECTRE

Ms. Spectre serves on the faculty of Yellin College for

Teachers in Jerusalem, the teaching faculty of the Shalom
Hartman Teaching Institute of Jewish Studies, and as a
Research Fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute of
Advanced Jewish Studies, where she lectures in Jewish

thought. For five years she was the educational advisor
and teacher trainer for the Jewish community of Zurich,
Switzerland. She has served on the faculty of the Melton
Center of Jewish Education of the Hebrew University, and

has also trained teachers in Europe for the European
Council of Jewish communities. Ms. Spectre has lectured
extensively in the United States. In addition, she was the
founding chairperson of the Seminary of Judaic Studies in
Jerusalem, and is the first recipient of their Schechter
award. She has received a research grant from Yad V'Shem

for her writings on Holocaust theology.
