Mrs. Epps was a long- time member of Hadassah and Women's American ORT. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Lisa Epps of Troy, David and Marilyn Epps of Commerce; grandchildren, Mark, Steve, Sara, Meegin, Brooke and Josh Epps. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Irving Blau of West Bloomfield, Doreen and David Wiener of Florida; grandchildren, Ali, Lainie, Lindsay Blau (fiance David Rubin), Laurie Cappello (Rob) and Stacey Wiener; great-grandson, Anthony Cappello. He was the hus- band of the late Rose Feinberg. Ser- vices and interment in Florida. S BENJAMIN P. FREEDLAND, 87, of North Miami, formerly of West Bloomfield, died Sept. 29. For more than 50 years, Mr. Freedland was an owner-executive in various stamp- ing, blanking and plating compa- nies, which sup- plied parts to the automotive indus- try. In the early 1940s, Mr. Freedland joined his older brothers Nathan and Harry at Oak- man Manufacturing Company. Ben • • invented and patented a cleaning process which allowed chrome to adhere more evenly to metal surfaces. He ran the plating operation, National Mfg. Co., throughout the '50s and then in 1974, along with Harry, he formed Freedland Industries in Dear- born, which produced first operation blanks. Over the years, Mr. Freedland was an active member of the Jewish corn- munity, and one of his proudest times was when he was honored at a dinner by the Yeshiva Beth Yehudah for his charitable work. His work on the pre- fabricated "Lustron" homes led to his being invited to the inauguration of President Harry Truman in 1948. Mr. Freedland was a past president of the old Covenant Club as well as a longtime member of both Knollwood and Westview country clubs. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Adrienne "Renee" and Allan Mann of West Bloomfield; son, Burton Freedland; grandsons, Gregory- and James Mann; brother and sister- in-law, Hyman and Gloria Freedland; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary Freedland, Jean Fredson, Yale and Bobi Simons, Kate Altman; many loving nieces and nephews.
