Temple Beth El will offer a full program
of adult studies beginning Oct. 7, and
continuing through to the spring.
Included in the classes will be
"Introduction to Judaism," a 20-week
seminar presented by the rabbis for
prospective converts, non-Jewish part-
ners of Jews and Jews seeking a better
understanding of Judaism. The course
provides an excellent opportunity to
explore the richness of Judaism in a
comfortable atmosphere. Couples are
encouraged to take this seminar togeth-
er and will be charged only one fee. The
class will meet on Wednesday evenings
at 7 p.m.
Also offered on Wednesday evenings
at 7 p.m. will be Torah Overview. In
tandem with the congregation's Torah
writing project, this class will provide an
overview Of the Torah and its structure,
a discussion of the major families and
events and a view of the Torah's role as
the foundation of Jewish law. At 8 p.m.,
Rabbis Castiglione and Goloboy will
present "The Rabbis on the Rabbis," an
exploration of the great characters and
teachings of the Talmud. Each week
will provide a view of a different person
or issue.
A beginning Hebrew class, Hebrew

:

I, will be offered both on Wednesday
mornings at 11 a.m. and Wednesday
evenings at 8 p.m. Those who have
mastered the alphabet and basic vocab-
ulary may elect Hebrew II offered on
both Wednesday mornings at 10:45
a.m. and Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m.
Also offered at 8 p.m. on Wednesday
evenings will be a class in conversational
Hebrew. Participants will read short sto-
ries and gain a mastery of grammar
skills. A basic knowledge of Hebrew is a
requirement for this class. Completing
the Wednesday courses is a 9:30 a.m.
Torah Study class, an on-going exami-
nation of the Torah, considering various
commentators and nuances in the text.
No knowledge of Hebrew is required.
Offered monthly will be a lunch and
learn on Thursdays at 11:45 a.m., pre-
sented by temple staff and leadership.
The series begins Nov. 12, with a pro-
gram on "Indusivity" led by Rabbi
David Castiglione. In addition, pianist
David Syme will be presenting "The Joy
of Music," a course in music apprecia-
tion for both the uninitiated and sophis-
ticated listener. The seven-week course
will be offered on Wednesdays at both
10 a.m. and 7 p.m. beginning Nov. 4.
