Parenting Center
Hosts Programs
A book club for parents will begin
meeting once a month, starting 7:30
p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at the
Applebaum Parenting Center. The
books to be discussed were written by
Dr. David Elkind, author and child
psychologist. Dr. Elkind will be fea-
tured at the Parenting Center in
March.
A special meeting for parents of
toddlers will gather 7:30 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 19, at the parenting
center. Topics facing toddler families

Divorce Support
At Temple Israel
Temple.Israel will offer a divorce sup-
port group free of charge and open to
the Jewish community. This group
will focus on helping participants to
understand their feelings and continue
the process of living an effective and
productive life.
This group will be facilitated by a
professional therapist and will meet at
Temple Israel. The sessions will begin
9:45-11:15 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, and
will continue Oct. 11, 18, 25; Nov. 1

Judge Speaks At
Federation Forum
Avern Cohn, U.S. District Judge for
the Eastern District of Michigan, will
be the guest speaker at the next
Federation Forum noon Tuesday, Oct.
27, at the Townsend Hotel,
Birmingham.
The Federation Forum is sponsored
by the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit to promote an
interest in Federation activities and
enlighten its participants on important
political, economic and social issues.

Federation/United Jewish Foundation
Centennial Celebration Committee,
Judge Cohn's talk will focus on "Jews
in Politics: An Historical Peispective."
A Federation past president and
recipient of its highest honor, the Fred
M. Butzel Memorial Award for distin-
guished community service, Judge
Cohn served on the Michigan Social
Welfare Commission and chaired the
Michigan Civil Rights Commission
and Detroit Board of Police
Commissioners.
Prior to his appointment to the
District Court bench in 1979, Judge
Cohn was an attorney in private prac-
tice. A director for the American
Judicature Society, Judge Cohn is a
past trustee of the Detroit Bar
Association Foundation, past director
of the Detroit Bar Association and a
representative in the Representative
Assembly of the State Bar of
Michigan.
The public is invited at a charge of
$25 per person. Luncheon will be

Individuals who failed to register claims for restitution of Jewish
property in the former East Germany by the December 31, 1992 German
Government deadline may apply to the Claims Conference Goodwill
Fund.
The Claims Conference Goodwill Fund shares net proceeds from the
recovery of properties which it obtained as the legal successor to
unclaimed Jewish property.
Applications to the Goodwill Fund will be accepted through
December 31, 1998. Please write to the address below, indicating:
• The address of the property
• The name of the original property owner
• Your relationship to the original owner
• Your name and mailing address

Conference is establishing a Department for Property Identification. If
you believe that you or your relatives may have owned Jewish property
in the former East Germany, please include as much information as pos-
sible in your application and the Department will endeavor to identify

Department for Property Identification, at the above address. There will
be no charge for this service.
