GET ORGANIZED!

The second annual Kindergarten and
First Grade New Family BBQ on Sept.
9, helped kick of the new school year at
Hillel Day School of Metropolitan
Detroit. A clown who had a knack for
shaping balloons was a big hit, as Sydney
Rosen can attest to.

Super Sunday Campaign
Seeking Volunteer Families

Families with children age 5 and up
will have an opportunity to do a mitz-
vah on Campaign Super Sunday, Oct.
18, when hundreds of volunteers meet
at the Max M. Fisher Federation
Building to benefit the 1999 Allied
Jewish Campaign.
The Campaign is the Jewish com-
munity's major appeal, helping hun-
dreds of thousands of Jews in Detroit,
Israel and 58 countries around the
world, especially the former Soviet
Union, where older adults are facing
malnutrition during the economic cri-
sis.

While volunteers are on the phones
asking for pledges to the Campaign,
their children will be involved in a
hands-on tzedakah project to benefit a
community agency.
Chairs Terri Farber Roth and Brent
S. Triest invite everyone to volunteer
for one of three shifts: 9:30 a.m. to
12:15 p.m., 11:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
and 6-9 p.m. Training will be available
to first-time volunteers and to veterans
who need a refresher.
To volunteer, call Leonard Milstone
in the Federation Campaign depart-
ment: (248) 203-1457.
