Receives Honor

The Jimmy Prentis Morris Jewish
Community Center will celebrate the
fall holidays with Jerome Glassman
and his family 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct.
8. Refreshments will be served; the
Sam Barnett Orchestra will play.
Tickets are required and will be issued -
at the front desk.
The Writers Corner will meet 10
a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, facilitated by
Wayne State University Professor
Norma Goldman.
Flutist Sara Frank and pianist Carol
Lasser in concert, will play at 1 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 22. This program is
free of charge.
Kosher lunches are served for adults
ages 60 and older Monday through
Friday. Friday programs include bless-
ings, wine, candles and challah.
"The Doctor Is In" is a weekly
health screening available 1-3 p.m.
Thursdays. Dr. Aubrey Goldman and
nurse Shirley Kramer, in cooperation
with Sinai Hospital, offer blood pres-
sure readings and fasting blood sugars.
There is no charge.

Avern Cohn
legal community,
Judge Cohn is a member of the
Detroit Bar Association, the State
Bar of Michigan, the Federal Bar
Association, the American Bar
Association, and the America Law
Institute. He is also an author who
has written numerous articles for law
reviews and the Michigan State Bar
Journal.

Hebrew Classes
At Shir Tikvah

Na'Amat Hosts
Donor Luncheon

Congregation Shir Tikvah will hold
fall Hebrew classes. Any member and
non-member adult over'the age of 18
interested in learning to read and
chant Hebrew prayers and in being
able to understand key phrases during
services may enroll.
There will be four levels of
Hebrew taught from beginner to
advanced with most classes held on
Thursday evenings from 7:30-9 p.m.
and advanced classes held on
Mondays at the same time. All class-
es will be taught at the temple, 3900
Northfield Parkway in Troy. To reg-
