Touch Of Evil

The Detroit Film Theatre premieres the newly restored Orson Welles film
noir classic Touch of Evil, a thriller about police corruption in a seedy Mexican
border town. Originally shot in 1958, this new version, garnering rave reviews,
is edited according to Welles' original, newly discovered editing notes. Also plays
4, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday and 4 and 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26-27. At the DIA,

Surviving The Shoah

Showtime presents an evening of films about surviving the Holocaust, begin-
ning at 6 p.m. with An Island On Bird Street, based on the real-life experiences of
author Uri Olev, in which an 11-year-old boy creates a hideaway in a bombed-
out building in war-torn Poland. At 8 p.m., the Barbra Streisand/Cis Corman
produced Rescuers: Stories of Courage - Two Families follows a young woman
(Robin Tunney) who falls in love with a man (Michael Rappaport) from a Jewish
ghetto and a circus couple who hide Jews by posing them as big-top performers.

and filmmaker Robert Andersen's
Motel/Movies24Hours, which
engages neighborhoods and architec-

museum's Lower Gallery features two

tors running several short film works.
