Rosh Chodesh
Series Starts

The Northwest Suburban Interfaith
Ministerial Association and
Bloomfield Community Television
will tape the television show "What's
Faith Got To Do With It?" 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 8, at First Baptist
Church, Birmingham. Clergy will
address faith issues from the view-
points of their own religious tradi-
tions.
The pyblic is invited to partici-
pate in the taping.
Participants will be Deacon Brian
Carroll (St. Regis Church, Bloomfield
Hills), Dr. Stephen Jones (First Baptist
Church, Birmingham), and Rabbi
Dannel Schwartz (Temple Shir
Shalom, West Bloomfield). They will
discuss "Does Prayer Matter?"

Eilu v' Eilu, the Detroit
Conservative movement's joint adult
Jewish learning project, will launch a
new year of monthly Rosh Hodesh
study sessions 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept.
27, at Borders Books and Music,
30995 Orchard Lake Road,
Farmington Hills.
Community educator Daphna
Feldman will welcome the new
month with a shiur titled "The Book
of Jonah and Themes of Yom
Kippur."
There is no charge; everyone is
welcome, and no reservations are
required.

The Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit will host
"Jewish Secrets to Self-Improvement"
with Rabbi Dannel Schwartz of
Temple Shir Shalom 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the Kahn
JCC.
The topic will be "How to Make a
More Spiritual Life for Yourself."
Rabbi Schwartz will discuss kabbalah
meditation, making holy moments,
creating a spiritual family, and the
angels around us.
The program is free of charge and
open to all.

Youth Plan
Convention

Central East NCSY will hold its
kickoff regional convention in Green
Road Synagogue in Cleveland, Ohio,
starting Thursday, Nov. 5, through
Sunday, Nov. 8. The cost for the
ninth-12th graders is $75 if regis-
tered by Oct. 22. For reservations

Shir Tikvah
Judaism Class

Rabbi Arnie*Sleutelberg will teach an
Introduction to Judaism class 8 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 5, at Shir Tikvah. The
class will run for nine weeks,
through Dec. 14, with no classes
held on Nov. 9 or 16.
