She was a member of B'nai B'rith,
Women's American ORT, Temple Shi
Shalom and a volunteer with the
Humane Society.
Ms. Kanat is survived by her son,
Barry Fishman of Southfield; daugh-
ters and son-in-law, Tammy and Mark
Richards of Ferndale, Loree Fishman
of South Carolina; brothers and sister-
in-law, Dennis Bogorad of Los Ange-
les, Joel and Kay Bogorad of Novi;
stepmother, Rose A. Bogorad; former
husband, Stuart Fishman. She was the
beloved daughter of the late Irving
and the late Harriet Bogorad.
Interment at Adat Shalom Memori-
al Park. Contributions may be made
to Temple Shir Shalom, Sandra Kanat
Memorial Fund, 3999 Walnut Lake
Road, West Bloomfield, MI 48322.

JULIUS KAPLAN, 76, of Kalamazoo,
died Sept. 17. Mr. Kaplan was a paper
company warehouse clerk.
He is survived by his brother and
sister-in-law, Irvine and Phyllis Kaplan
of Southfield; sister and brother-in-
law, Pearl and Harry Bank of Las
Vegas.
Interment at Beth El Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made to
Temple Beth El. Arrangements by Ira
Kaufman Chapel.

DR. BERNARD MELVIN KAY, 66,
of Okemos, died Sept. 17. He was an
osteopathic pediatrician and educa-
tional administrator. Dr. Kay was a
1953 graduate of the University of
Detroit and a 1957 graduate of the
College of Osteopathic Medicine and
Surgery, Des Moines, Iowa. He was a
founding chair of the department of
pediatrics, College of Osteopathic
Medicine at Michigan State Univers'
and served on the Sparrow Physician
Executive Committee for over six
years. He also served on the Ronald
McDonald House Board and its exec
utive committee and was a past presi-
dent of the American College of
Osteopathic Pediatric Physicians.
He is survived by his wife of 25
years, Judy Kay; daughters and son-in
law, Theresa and Kyle Krejci of
Gilbert, Ariz., Dr. Lisa Kay of Los

Angeles; sons and daughters-in-law,
Dr. Mark and Janet Kay of Palo Alto,
Calif., Jeffy Kay of Morris, Mich., Dr.
Randy and Dr. Deborah Kay of West
Bloomfield, Kevin and Lenette Kay o
Durham, N.C.; seven grandchildren;
parents, Harry and Bessie Kay; broth-
