ry the "core" Detroit Jewish commu-
nity grew and moved northwest,
away from Hastings Street to north-
west Detroit and then to Oak Park,
Southfield and West Bloomfield.

nity will be in 20 years," said Randie
Levin, the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit's assistant
director of planning and agency rela-
tions. "We know some Jews are con-
tinuing to move northwest, but there
are also many moving into the older
areas, including Huntington Woods,
Oak Park and Southfield."
