MJAC Honors
Linda Lee

The Michigan Jewish AIDS
Coalition will honor outgoing presi-
dent, Linda Lee at the annual meet-
ing at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at
the Kahn Jewish Community Center
in the Janice Charach Epstein muse-
um gallery.
Highlights of Lee's tenure will be
noted during the eveni,ng, including
the expansion of the education pre-
sentation program, the creation of
MJAC's ECHO Project and develop-
ment of MJAC's financial support.

The keynote address will be deliv-
ered by Jerome P. Horwitz, professor
at Wayne State University School of
Medicine, Department of Internal
Medicine, Division of Oncology in
Detroit; the recipient of the evening's

Aish HaTorah
Hosts Physicist

Aish HaTorah will hold its first pro-
gram in the new Birmingham Adult
Education Center 10 p.m. Saturday,
Oct. 24. Centered on the Havdalah
service, the program will be an intro-
duction to Kabbala and the impor-
tance of time to Jewish spirituality.
Reservations are required.
From Oct. 29 through Nov. 2,
Aish will host MIT Nuclear Physicist
Dr. Gerald Schroeder, author of

Genesis and the Big Bang and the
Science of God. Dr. Schroeder will be
scholar in residence at Young Israel
of Oak Park on Shabbat and
Saturday night. On Thursday
evening at 8 p.m., he will speak for
the general public at the AJE build-
ing on 12 Mile Road.
Aish also will offer two courses.
The first is in basic Hebrew reading.
Co-sponsored by the National Jewish
Outreach Program, to teach anyone
how to read Hebrew in five lessons.
The course begins on Monday, Nov.
2.
The second is a course in Jewish
literacy. It is also a five-session series
presenting basics of Judaism.
Graduates will receive a certificate of
basic Jewish literacy. The program
will begin on Thursday, Nov. 5.
