AJC Develops
Relations

F

or 54 years, the
Detroit Chapter of
the American Jewish
Committee has
tackled issues of interest to the
Detroit Jewish community by
bringing speakers and interest-
ed people together. This year's
program lineup will continue
this tradition of Jewish intel-
lectual discourse.
On Sunday, Sept. 27, the
AJC, the Catholic
Archdiocese and other com-
munity organizations will
host Rabbi Dannel Schwartz
and Bishop John Nienstedt
for a symposium on the
jubilee year and the upcom-
ing millennium, as these cal-
endar dates relate to
Catholics and Jews. This
program will take place at
the Shrine of the Little
Flower in Royal Oak.
On Monday, Nov. 16, for-
mer ambassador Morris
Abraham, founder and chair-
man of UN Watch, will be
- the guest lecturer at a com-
munity-wide program at
Wayne State University. The
AJC and the Center for
Peace and Conflict Studies
will cosponsor the program
and members of the interna-
tional community, including
diplomats representing local
consulates, will be present.
Judge Avern Cohn is the
evening's chairman.
