The Sephardic Community of Greater
Detroit will have two leaders conduct-
ing High Holiday services this year.
Returning from Chicago as chazan
will be Sasson Naton, who served as
cantor for the Sephardic Community
from 1994
through June of
1998. Joining

Sephardic commu-
nity and the
Detroit area,
Rabbi Gez, who
Sasson Natan
was born in Tunisia, brings with him a
background rich in Sephardic tradi-
tions. He was educated in Israel and has
been the rabbi at congregations in
Texas, Israel, Argentina and Venezuela.
The Sephardic Community services
will be held at the Agency for Jewish
Education, 21550 West 12 Mile in

For Holidays
Temple Emanu-El will provide a sign-
language interpreter for the following
High Holiday services: Erev Rosh
Hashanah, Sunday, Sept. 20, 7-8:30
p.m.; Kol Nidre, Tuesday, Sept. 29, 7-
8:30 p.m.
The temple also provides a special
wireless radio system to amplify its
sound system for the hearing impaired.
To use this system, bring a pocket AM
radio with earphones and fresh batter-
ies.
Interested persons in need of services
for the hearing impaired who are not
temple members can contact the temple
office, (248) 967-4020, for High
Holiday ticket information.
Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood will
provide child care for temple members
during the following services: Sept. 20,
7-8:30 p.m.; Sept. 21, 10:30 a.m.-
noon; Sept. 29, 7 8:30 p.m.; Sept. 30,
10:30 a.m.-noon and 2:30 p.m.-6 p.m.
This service is offered for children 3-
8 years old. They will be grouped by
age and receive snacks and refresh-
ments. Reservations and pre-payment
must be made before Sept. 16. For

High Holidays
At JPI
The Jewish Parents Institute will pro-
vide Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur
services to the community at large. The
services, secular in nature and family
oriented, are led by JPI members and
associates.
Rosh Hashanah services will take
place 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at the
Kahn JCC and will be followed by a
reception.
Yom Kippur services will be held 2
p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the
Center.
