JPM Hosts
Varied Events

The Jimmy Prentis Morris Jewish
Community Center will host a travel-
ogue with Ms. Barb Facer, who will
present -a lecture and slide show that
will take us through the inside passage
of Alaska at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept.
24. There is no charge.
Two videos about Jerusalem, "Wake
the Dawn, the Story of Jerusalem's
Holy Temple" and "Jerusalem: Soul of
a People," will be shown at 12:45
p.m., Monday, Sept. 28. There is no
charge.
The Yiddish Culture Club will
meet 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2. There is
no charge.
The Glassman party will be 1 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 8. Refreshments will
be served; the Sam Barnett Orchestra
will play. Tickets are required and will
be issued at the front desk.
A troupe of local entertainers will
perform 1 p:m. every Wednesday, for
the weekly afternoon social. Broadway
tunes and Yiddish melodies will be
presented. Refreshments will be
served. There is a charge.
A weekly Erev Shabbat program
will Cantor David Gutman takes place
on Fridays at 12:45 p.m.

CASA (Court Appointed Special
Advocates) is seeking concerned citi-
zens who want to get involved in a
rewarding project in Oakland County.
Men and women volunteers are
needed to help insure the right of chil-
dren to safe homes with caring adults.
Working in pairs, CASAs assist the
6th Judicial Circuit-Family Division

of Oakland County in making deci-
sions as to the appropriateness of legal
guardianship placements.
The leadership and ongoing-train-
ing for this project are provided by the
National Council of Jewish Women,
Greater Detroit Section. Membership
in NCJW is not a requirement for
participation.
The next training session will be
Thursday, Oct. 8, and Friday, Oct. 9,
at the NCJW office, 26400 Lahser
Road, Suite 100, Southfield. Contact

Lunch and Learn series titled
"Biblical Stories on Critical Life
Issues" noon- 1:15 p.m. Thursdays,
Oct. 8, 15, 22, 29.

teach the.classes. A $40 per person

SPACE Offers
Support Groups

SPACE For Changing Families, a

non-sectarian community service pro-
ject of National council of Jewish
Women, Greater Detroit Section, is
registering bereavement support
groups.
On Thursday, Oct. 1, 1-2:30 p.m.
and 7-9 p.m., SPACE will sponsor
drop-in bereavement support groups
for adults who have lost any loved
one. On Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 7-9
p.m., there will be a widows moving-
