This fall, the AJC will
host its annual apple-picking
party to benefit Forgotten
Harvest. Local attorney and
AJC board member Kenneth
C. Gold will chair the event.
On Jan. 18, 1999, the
AJC will co-host with the
Detroit Urban League the
annual Martin Luther King
Jr. "All Peoples Breakfast."
Next spring, for a second
consecutive year, the AJC
will convene its six-part
studies series on Jewish iden-
tity and community for
Jewish college students from
the former Soviet Union.
The AJC will also sponsor an
Advocacy Day in Lansing,
reaching out to newly elected
state officials on such issues
as a Michigan religious free-
dom statute, hate crimes,
public education and
church-state separation.
Finally, the AJC will host
in June with a national trib-
ute to William Clay Ford Jr.
at a gala event in Dearborn.
Since 1906, the AJC has
sought to protect the security
of Jews throughout the
world, to support the princi-
ples of democracy and to
enhance the quality of
American Jewish life. All
members of the Jewish corn-
munity are welcome to
become part of this mission.
