Elana Roth, 17, of Huntington
Woods, visited Israel this summer as
part of the USY Israel Pilgrimage/
Poland Seminar.
"The best feeling
was landing in Israel
after spending a
week amidst the
remnants of a once-
vibrant culture to
see it again thriv-
ing," said Elana, a
12th grader at
Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-
Kingswood. "It was especially incred-
ible to experience this with 64 other
Jewish teenagers, who are all making
the conscious decision to live as
Jews."
She added: "This trip has helped
to exemplify my desire to see other
teenagers get involved in USY and
benefit from its programming like I
have."
Elana is the daughter of Kay and
Ira Harris and Rob and Terri Farber
Roth. She has one sister, Dena Roth
three brothers, Sam, Reuben and
Kendall Maxbauer. The family is
affiliated with Congregation B'nai
Moshe.
