MSU Hillel
Events Planned
TEVA, Hillel's environmental group,
will go on a hike at 11 a.m. Sunday,
Sept. 13.; meet at Hillel for free
bagels before the event.
Rabbi Avraham Jacobovitz of
Machon L'Torah will speak at 6:30
p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Hillel. His
topic will be "Rosh Hashanah: The
Story of a Majestic Blast." A free deli
dinner will be served.

The Commission on Jewish
Eldercare Services (COJES) will hold
a community education day 1-4 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Kahn Jewish
Community Center.
Dr. Kenneth Minaker of Harvard
Medical School, a specialist in geron-
tology with a special interest in well- .
ness in older adults, will be the guest
speaker.
The day will feature exhibits of
interest to older adults and their
caregivers and entertainment by the
Sam Barnett Orchestra. Filmmaker
Sue Marx will introduce her
Academy Award-winning film, Young'
at Heart. Winners of the Detroit
Jewish News sponsored contest "My
Keys to Well Being" will be
announced.
Refreshments will be served, and
there will be door prizes. A sign lan-
guage interpreter will be available.

Fall Classes
Registration for the fall session of
children and teen youth sport leagues
is in progress at the Jimmy Prentis
Morris Jewish Community Center.
"Outdoor Soccer League"— for chil-
dren 4-13 years of age. All games are
played on Sundays for eight weeks.
Time varies depending on the age of
the participant. First day is Sept. 13.
The member cost for the league is
a
$45 and the non-member cost is
$69.
"In-Line Hockey League"—OHL
(1st-3rd); IHL (4th-6th); and NHL
(7th-9th). Registration deadline is
Oct. 23. Register before Oct. 21 and
receive a $5 early registration dis-
count. All practices and games are
held on Sundays for nine weeks.
Time varies depending on age of the
participant. The member cost is $50
and the non-member cost is $80.
Draft Day is Oct. 25: lst-3rd:
4:30 p.m.; 4th-6th: 5:30 p.m.; 7th-
9th: 6:30 p.m.

B'nai B'rith's Center for Public Policy
will host a political forum featuring
the two candidates for attorney gen-
eral 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at
Adat Shalom Synagogue in
Farmington Hills. Steve Kaplan,
assistant prosecutor for Macomb
County, is the Center for Public
Policy chairman and Carolyn Cohen
will serve as event chairperson.
The forum will feature the two can-
didates for attorney general, John
Smietanka and Jennifer Granholm.
There will be time for guests to meet
with the candidates after the program.
The forum is open to the entire
community without cost; refresh-
