The Jewish Community Council is bringing the Jewish commu-
nity to your doorstep with a series of Town Hall Meetings
geared toward your unique needs and concerns as a Jewish
member of your community. Each meeting will take place in
an area where a new pocket of Jewish growth is emerging.

The Jimmy Prentis Morris Jewish
Community Center will host the
Yiddish/Jewish Film Festival. The
movie The Cantor's Son will be shown
at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, and
12:45 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14.
There is no charge.
Nurse Sharon Tomaszewski of the
Oakland County Public Health
Department will speak on managing
arthritis and osteoporosis at 10 a.m.
Monday, Sept. 14.
Lunch and the Charles and Frances
Driker Fund Concert, "Israel at 50:
Living the Dream," featuring Cantor
Sidney Resnick and pianist, Lillian
Zellman, will be noon Thursday,
Sept. 17 at JPM. Tickets are $2.25
and may be purchased at the front
desk by Friday, Sept. 11. The program
will begin at 1 p.m. No tickets are
needed for the concert, which is free
of charge.
Torah classes are taught from 10-
11 a.m. every Wednesday by
Shoshana Ben-Ozer. There is no
charge.
Woodcarving takes place Mondays
through Fridays at 9 a.m. Supplies are
included in the beginning. There is
no charge.

Sisterhood Hosts
A Storyteller

Congregation Shir Tikvah's Sisterhood
will begin its 1998-99 season with an
evening of fun and imaginative story-
telling 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept.
16. Dinner will be served; a short
business meeting will follow, leading
into the tales of storyteller Corinne
Stavish.
The public is invited; dinner reser-
vations are required along with a $5

per person donation from non-mem-
bers to cover the cost of the dinner.
Sisterhood membership is also open
to non-congregants of Shir Tikvah.

Boy Scouts
Start Season

Troop 1579 of the Boy Scouts of
America will begin its fall season at
Congregation Beth Abraham Hillel
Moses. All boys between the ages of
11 and 18 are welcome. The program
is geared toward outdoor skills, citi-
zenship and personal growth. Shabbat
and kashrut will be observed. Full
parental participation is encouraged.
The first meeting will be held 7:30
p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the syn-
agogue and will meet weekly there-
after, holidays excepted. The troop is
open to the community. Refreshments
will be served. Fees are involved. For

Project REACH
Donations Sought

Women's American ORT's Michigan
Region will sponsor Project REACH,
an area-wide Jewish women's response
to domestic violence and children in
crisis.
Project REACH receptacles are
located in special drop-off locations
throughout the community, including
the Jewish Community Center (Kahn
and JPM buildings), most area syna-
gogues and temples and local retail
establishments for donations of edu-
cational toys, books, videos, software
and assorted school supplies.
