Kadima's first Parlor Meeting, led by

61 attendees joined together for
dinner and presentations. To date, over
$55,000 has been raised in response
to this event.

KADIMA
CAMPERS
Kadima campers and
staff extend many thanks
to Steve Grand who
donated his resort, Silver
Lodge in Cheboygan, for
the use of Kadima clients
in June. Everyone came
away with an
unforgettable experience.
Kadima's clients had many wonderful
things to say about their unique experience.
As Gary put it, " If I were asked next year
to come and participate, I don't think I would
hesitate."
"I will continue to have good memories
of Silver Lodge and look forward to next
year," says Laura who is a third year
participant in the program.
Joel commented, "Thank you for giving
us the resort for 5 days. It was nice getting
together with all of my friends."
For many of the 21 clients who
participated, this is their only opportunity to
lave a vacation, for some it was their very
first vacation. The joy experienced by these
clients could be seen in their faces as they
sat around the campfire singing songs and
roasting rnarshmellows. Our heartfelt thanks
go out to Steve Grand whose generosity has
made a significant impact on the lives of our
clients.

About 5 to 15% of the homeless have
schizophrenia.
There is a higher percentage of smokers
among schizophrenics than in the general
population.
At any one time, 6 in 100 Americans
are diagnosed as having depression.
Schizophrenia is the cause of more
hospitalizations than almost any other
disorder.
Lack of energy, spontaneity, and initiative
are symptoms of schizophrenia, as well as,
disordered thinking, delusions, and
hallucinations.
Suicide is the number one cause of death
for young people with schizophrenia.
Relatives of people with depression are
2 to 3 times more likely than the general
population to suffer from depression.
About 2 million Americans suffer from
bipolar disorder (manic depression).
