else just to see if anything can live up

WORD FROM Dana Burnstein is
that the first Annual Golf Classic by
Pontiac Rescue Mission is set for Tues-
day, Sept. 15, at Shenandoah Golf
Club on Walnut lake Road in West
Bloomfield ... $150 fee includes
lunch, dinner, four-man scramble golf
tournament and prizes ... All profits
go to the Women's and Children's
Shelter ... For more info, Dana says to
call (248) 334-2187, Monday to Fri-
day, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A HUGE FULL WALL dimension-
al mural has Al Wagner and Michelle
Ambroza dancing by the large roller
coaster of his former Jefferson Beach
Amusement Park... And a sign reads,
"Jefferson Beach. The family Picnic
Playground."
This is just one of the unbelievable
sights at the new Beach Grill on Jeffer-
son, between 9 and 10 Mile.
The decor is mind-boggling ... So
pretty and so stand-outish ...Hard to
imagine that this was once Brownies-
On-The-Lake.
Tammy Kessler, of Tammy Kessler
& Associates, is responsible for the
magnificent interior design ... And her
dad, Bill Kessler, of Kessler Associates
Architects, designed the building.
"I'm just the landlord," says Al
Wagner, who flitted about like a
proud peacock with a happy smile ...
The Beach Grill, says Al, is owned and
general managed by Mark Di Masio.
George Chessler, Al's comptroller for
over 20 years, has seen the Brownie's
owned by Al and the one run down
afterwards ... And now The Beach Grill
... If you could put a word in George's
mouth, "Amazing!" would be it.
This was two nights before opening
and the shining silverware never used
before glistened out of the linen nap-
kins ... The Beach Grill wants to be
known for its food ... and certainly
started out on the right foot.
Executive Chef John Wesenberg
and Executive Sous Chef Joseph Czer-
niakowski put out uncanny goodness
... even on this pre-opening night
when the computers went down and
so many, many people came and
gaped in awe at the striking
changeover.
WHAT PEOPLE talk.about
shopping carts in supermarket lots
take that up almost as many parking
spots as cars ... Restaurants that don't
serve eggs after a certain hour ... Never
thought of them as just breakfast food
... Why can't they be had for lunch or
dinner, too? LI
