Selichot Program
Adat Shalom Synagogue's Selichot
program and late night service will be

Beginning at 9:30 a.m., there will be
a coffee and cake reception. At 10 p.m.,
Rabbi Herbert Yoskowitz will discuss
"Leadership and Accountability:
Thoughts for the Clinton
Administration and for the 'Loyal
Opposition' — Insights from the Story
of Aaron and the Death of his Sons."
Traditional penitential prayers will
be at 11 p.m., led by the Adat shalom
clergy, chanted by Cantor Howard
Glantz, and accompanied by the syna-
gogue's mixed voice High Holy Day
choir, along with harpist Ruth Mayers
and flutist Carole Perkins.

Adult Ed
Temple Kol Ami has a large fall selec-
tion of adult education offerings.
Rabbi Ernst J. Conrad will present
two courses on Wednesday evenings,
Sept. 16-Oct. 14. "Witness to the
Events," a course about the Holocaust
experience, will be offered 7-8 p.m.
"The Jewish Significance of the Dead
Sea Scrolls" will be taught 8:15-9:15
p.m.
Rabbi Jonathan V. Plaut will pre-
sent "A New Look at a Old Book"
Thursdays, Oct. 1 Oct. 22, 7 8 p.m.
to explore several Biblical stories from
the viewpoint of the writer.
For those adults interested in learn-
ing (or re-learning) basic Hebrew,
Lynne Roman will teach "Beginning
Hebrew" on Thursdays, Oct. 1-Dec.
10. Classes begin 7 p.m. and will last
for 45 minutes.
Also on Thursdays, Oct. 1-Dec. 10,
Rabbi Amy B. Brodsky will teach
"Introduction to Judaism." This
course is designed for all those inter-
ested in learning about Jewish history,
holidays, life cycle events and God
concepts.

a pre-Selichot viewing of the movie
"The Chosen" 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept.
