The friendliness shown to athletes,
their families, friends, chaperones and
officials will long be remembered.
From Ann Arbor to Huntington
Woods and all places in between, one
could not miss the warmth and kind-
ness. The hundreds of officials, volun-
teers and sponsors should be proud of
their success.
During the week, we spoke with
many of the athletes and could not
help but notice their smiles as they
described the people they met and the
things they did. This was a week filled
with positive Jewish experiences they
could relate to, the establishment of
life-long Jewish friendships and the
outstanding example of Jewish role
models.
Lastly, and most importantly, we
want to thank the hundreds of host
families who took strange children
into their homes and treated them as
if they were their own. In particular,
a special thank you to the Bellets of
West Bloomfield and the Rutten-
bergs of Huntington Woods who
housed, fed, transported and loved
our daughter and son. We are forever
indebted to you for your kindness,
warmth and generosity. From the
bottom of our hearts, thank you so
much.

JN Soucebook, which Jewish News

the U.S. Postal Service, is the most
comprehensive and exhaustive com-
pilation of current information and
useful features ever assembled about
the Detroit Jewish community. It
did for me over the period of the
JCC Maccabi Games as my host
family.
The driving, the dinners, the
lunches and other things were too
many to count. They didn't have to
do it and that made them special.
Overall, I would like to thank them
for the time they spent with me.

this year's games.
My husband and I arrived in
Detroit on Sunday and checked into
our hotel. There was an information
desk that was manned by warm and
helpful volunteers who distributed a
ton of helpful brochures, maps, a
fantastic program and lots of sup-
port. We felt at home and were
immediately oriented with where we
had to be all week and how to get
there. We visited the host family at
their lovely home after they picked
up our daughter and made arrange-
ments to attend opening ceremonies
(my only criticism — it was too
long). As we made our way around
the suburbs, we were delighted to see
a most beautiful place, logically
