Celebrates

Temple Beth Israel in Jackson
Michigans second oldest Reform tem-
ple — will celebrate 140 years of Jewish
life in Jackson at an anniversary dinner
at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.
Program highlights include a
Havdalah service to mark the end of the
Sabbath, a brief temple history, perfor-
mances by the temple choir and a spe-
cial address from Rabbi Elliott
/--- Kleinman, regional director of the
Union of American Hebrew
Congregations.
The evening will end with a Selichot
service, to prepare members of the con-
gregation for the up coming High
Hoildays.

For Selichot

The community is invited to join
Selichot services 9:15 p.m. Saturday,
Sept. 12 at congregation Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses.
Rabbi Aaron Bergman will show a
video titled "The Last Jewish Wedding
in Amsterdam." The video will be fol-
lowed by a discussion prior to the ser-
vices, which will begin at 11 p.m.
Refreshments will be served.
Ronn Nadis together with the con-
gregational choir will lead the services.
A family service, open to the com-
munity, will be held at 4 p.m. on the
first day of Rosh Hashanah, Monday,
Sept. 21. Refreshments will be served at
5 p.m.; leave the synagogue for Tashlich
at 5:30 p.m.
