we all knew that as tired as we felt after
a long, sleepless flight with a New York
delay, if we were told the plane would
turn around and take us back to Israel
nor one of us would have gotten out of
our seats:
Since then, we have many times
given good wishes to those planning to
travel through Israel with their children,
and now we are the ones telling of the
incredible experience that they can look
forward to, and how much we wish we
were going, too.111.

Heschel, who marched with him arm-
in-arm, Walter Reuther, hundreds of
other civil rights and labor leaders as
well as those who marched and
protested for other minorities and
causes.
It is timely to note that the late
Detroit mayor, Coleman A. Young, a
man who had pride in his race and
heritage, would tolerate no racial
insult, taking on all corners. When
asked about his strong reactions, he
said that he resented racial insults and
would respond accordingly.
Then 'he added, while he was some-
times labeled "dangerous" by his
opponents, the really dangerous peo-
ple are those who respond to slurs
with a smile. And one might add with

silence.

Thus, we are a danger to ourselves.
