ESTHER ROSENBERG, 87, of
West Bloomfield, died Aug. 16. Mrs.
Rosenberg was a life member of
Hadassah, a member of the Brandeis
Womens Committee and a former
chairman of the United Jewish
Appeal in Connecticut.
She is survived by her daughters
and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Mark
LoPatin of West Bloomfield; Pauline
and Michael Boll of Florida; grand-
children, Hanna, Sarah and
Jonathan LoPatin; sister, Rose
Matzkin; brother and sister-in-law,
David and Martha Cohen of North
Miami Beach, Fla. Mrs. Rosenberg
was the beloved wife of the late
Harold Rosenberg.
Interment at Melchizedek Ceme-
tery in Connecticut. Contributions
may be made to the Fleishman Jew-
ish Home for Aged, 6710 West
Maple, West Bloomfield, MI 48322.

HERSHEL SALINGER, 89, of

Haifa, Israel, died Aug. 16. He came
to America in 1927, married in
1934 and made aliyah to Israel
where he and his wife became
founding members of Kibbutz
Afikim. He later moved to Tel Aviv
where he had a long career in the
textile industry.
He is survived in Israel by his
children Naomi (BenZion) Naveh,
Shmuel (Dahlia) Salinger, Batya
(Avi) Weinreb; seven grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren. In the Unit-
ed States, he is survived by his sister,
Rella (Max) Fridman; brother, Sey-
mour (Tova) Salinger; sisters-in-law,
Lillian Salinger, Adeline Salinger,
Mania Salinger, Blanche Salinger;
loving nieces and nephews. He was
