Dr. David Harold was re-elected
president of the Fresh Air Society
on Aug. 7 at Camp Maas in
Ortonville. The society, founded in
1902, operates Tamarack Camps.
Others elected to one-year terms
of leadership at the 96th annual
meeting of the society were: Sharon
Hart and Howard Rosen, vice presi-
dents; Jeffrey Sternberg, treasurer;
and Donna Schwartz, secretary.
Elected to their first three-year
term as directors were: Beth
Applebaum, Elyse. Bratley, Dr.
Jeffrey Devries, Linda Kaplan,
Donna Maddin, Greg Orley and
Ronald Sollish.

Circle). Izzy is brotherhood past pres-
ident and Fran a sisterhood vice pres-
ident. Both have twice held the office
of Beth Elders president and both are
in the Usher Corps.
They were named Temple Beth
El's 1990 Fund for Reform Judaism
honorees. Dedicated to building
bridges, the Malins have worked
closely with the Rev. Kenneth
Flowers of Detroit's Greater New
Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist
Church and are treasurers of the
American Arabic and Jewish Friends,
an arm of the Detroit Interfaith
Round Table. Both are active in
B'nai B'rith.

Elected to their second three-year
term as directors were: Tim Cohen,
Hi Dorfman, Rabbi Michele
Faudem and Barbara Tronstein.
Among the highlights of the
meeting, "Blazing Trails for the
Future," were the dedications of the
Applebaum Village for second- and
third-grade boys and the Shiffman
Village for second- and third-grade
girls - donated by Eugene and
Marcia Applebaum and Dr. Milton
and Lois Shiffman, respectively.
Eugene Applebaum is founder of
Arbor Drugs and president of the
Eugene and Marcia A. Applebaum
Supporting Foundation, created
through United Jewish
Foundation. Shiffman,
3. a surgeon for 25 years,
chairs the Sun
Communities Inc. real
estate firm.
Fresh Air Society
runs summer camps for
2,000 children, as well
as year-round family
camp weekends and
outdoor education pro-
grams for school
groups.
