Evelyn and Lester Burton will be hon-
ored by - the American Committee for
the Weizmann Institute of Science at a
gala dinner celebration 6 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 10, at Temple Israel.
The Burtons are lifelong communi-
ty activists and philanthropists for
many humanitarian and Jewish causes.
Lester Burton was the first chairman
of the Builders State Licensing Board,
the treasurer of the Jewish
Community Council, the chairman of
Tamarack Hills Authority, a member
of the Federation's Board of governors
and the executive committee of the
Home for the Aged. He serves on the
executive committee of the Multiple
Sclerosis Society. Evelyn Burton is a
board member of the American
Committee for the Weizmann
Institute of Science and the Multiple

Hebrew Class
For Beginners

Eilu Eilu's Beginner Conversational
Hebrew class with Ahuva Newman
has been extended through Sept. 23;
new students are welcome to join the
group.
The class meets from 7:30 to 9:30
p.m. in a private home in Southfield
on Monday nights through Aug. 31,
then will switch to Wednesday nights
for concluding sessions on Sept. 9, 16
and 23. Tuition will be prorated
according to the number of sessions
attended. The charge is $15 per ses-

sion for Eilu v' Eilu members and $18
per session for others.
In addition, Eilu v' Eilu's
Intermediate Conversational Hebrew
Summer Seminar will continue to
meet Thursday nights from 7:30 to
9:30 p.m. through Aug. 27. New stu-
dents are welcome to attend any of the
remaining session in this intensive
series. Tuition for each two-hour ses-
sion is $20 for Eilu v' Eilu members;
$25 for others.

Mysticism
Series Starts

Adat Shalom Synagogue will offer four
study sessions during Elul, when
Rabbi Daniel Nevins will introduce
participants to the world of Jewish
Mysticism.

Titled "Jewish Mystical Traditions,"
the series is planned for 8 p.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 2, Thursday, Sept.
10 and Wednesday, Sept. 16 and 23,
at the synagogue.
No knowledge of Hebrew of Jewish
liturgy is required. There is no charge
for the instruction. There is a $15 fee
for the text to be used.
