Alan A. May, president of May &
May P.C., recently was elected a vice
chair of the National Conference for
Community and
Justice (NCCJ).
May has served as
a co-chair of the
Michigan Region
NCCJ, historical-
ly known as the
Interfaith Round
Table. This
appointment con-
tinues his service

Michigan Civil Rights Commission
(1981-1984) and chair in 1984. He
was also a commissioner for the
Michigan Civil Service Commission
from 1985-1989 and served as co-
chair, Detroit Bar Judicial Evaluations
and Credential Committee, and co-
chair, Federal Judicial Committee
(1980-1988).
The National Conference for
Community and Justice, founded in
1927 as the National Conference of
Christians and Jews, is a human rela-
tions organization dedicated to fight-
ing bias, bigotry and racism in
America. NCCJ promotes understand-
ing and respect among all races, reli-
gions, and cultures through advocacy,
conflict resolution and education.
Mr. May is married with two
daughters and a resident of Bloomfield
Hills. He is a graduate of the
University of Michigan and University
of Michigan Law School.

Jack Kay of Farmington Hills, interim
dean of Wayne State University's
College of Fine, Performing and
Communication Arts, will travel to
Israel as part of an exchange program
with educators in that country. Kay
will present two research papers on
hate speech at the annual conference
of the International Communication
Association in Jerusalem. Kay was
invited to the educational institutions
through Partnership 2000, a program
sponsored by the Jewish Federation of L\
Metropolitan Detroit to foster eco-
nomic growth and people-to-people
connections between Israel and Jewish
communities abroad.
