kitchen staff, plus all the Mario's
employees, are gearing for the golden
anniversary with a commitment of
maintaining the high standards upon
which Mario's has stood.
A specially-priced menu for many
of its traditional favorites will be
offered.
From the moment the gentleman
comes to park your car in Mario's pri-
vate parking lot across the street, one
knows that an experience is ahead.
The excitement that goes with cele-
brating a 50-year tradition is difficult
to beat ... Being part of it is exciting.
FORGET THOSE very false rumors
that someone started about New York
Pizza World being closed ... The kosher
pizza and varied entrees operation on
Lincoln, just east of Greenfield in Oak
Park, is very much still in business ... It's
mostly a carry-out, but there are some
tables where folks can take their food
and eat ...New York Pizza World is
owned by Leo Mertz, with Kerry Silver,
general manager.
WHILE AN OPTICIAN on Nine
Mile and Coolidge in Oak Park for 30

see better ... Now living in Ft. Laud-
rdale with wife Jeanette, he looked
good himself on a happy double-take
after getting his first hole-in one ... It
was at the Pine Island Ridge Country
Club in Ft. Lauderdale.
WING HONG is still in business
if you're wondering what happened to
him ... The former owner of Wing
Hong's Chinese restaurant and Tokyo
Steak House in West BloOrnfield now
has two carry-out-only restaurants ...
Both are called Wing Hong Express ...
corner of 14 Mile and Haggerty in
West Bloomfield and on Union Lake
Road in Union Lake.
MAIL DEPT. ... From Cecilia
(Ceal) Bogrow in East Lansing ... "My
husband Morris and I have been mar-
ried 52 years. We grew up in the
etroit area, dated and married, lived
in Oak Park for 23 years and moved
to East Lansing in 1978.
"I saw the article about Lelli's and
thought you might be interested in its
menu of approximately 1943-1947.
Imagine a filet dinner for $1.50. I also
have a menu from Boesky's listing a
Dinty Moore for 45 cents and a
corned beef sandwich for 20 cents.
nbelievable.
"I collected memorabilia also from
the Drake Hotel in Chicago where we
spent the first week of our honey-
moon, including the rate list. I sent
them copies when we celebrated our
50th anniversary, and we were invited
