WON FROM THE HEART
The annual Detroit Medical Center
benefit "Won from the Heart" raised
more than S120,000 for heart surgery
research. More than 250 people
attended the event at the Grosse
Pointe Yacht Club. Mario Andretti,
the famous race car driver, was the
guest of honor, and he presented his
annual award the "Spirit of Mario
Andretti" to the Indy Lights driver
who displays professionalism in his
career. Race car driver Derek Higgins
from Ireland was the winner. Dr.
William Pinsky and Dr. Mark Burn-
stein were spotted in the crowd.
OAK PARK HIGHLIGHT
Yehudis Tawil, of Oak Park and a
third-grade student at Beth Jacob
School for Girls, has a story published
in the July issue of Highlight for Chil-
dren. The nine-year-old wrote "A
Clean Getaway" because readers were
asked to complete the ending of an
article in the magazine. Yehudis is the
daughter of Susan and Robert Tawil.
