SZ Productions
July Program

The July program of Shaarey Zedek
Productions has three topics. On the
first segment, Geri Levit, host and
producer of the show, interviews
Tom Wexelberg-Clauser, director in
this area for the Jewish Theological
Seminary. He discusses the institu-
tion, its hopes and programs for the
future. The second part . features Yael
Waxman, representative of the State
of Israel to the Detroit area. She
talks about the Walk for Israel. The
last segment features Henry Leeds
and Debby Schussel, two of the can-
didates running for the Michigan
House of Representatives this year.

Annual Meeting

The 96th annual meeting of the Fresh
Air Society and election of officers will
take place 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at
Camp Maas. -

The Charles & Frances Driker Yid-
dish Culture Fund will sponsor an
outstanding variety of Yiddish tunes
by Sam Barnett at 1 p.m. Thursday,
July 23. This program is free; tickets
will be issued at the front desk.
Woodcarving meets Mondays
through Fridays at 9 a.m. New mem-
bers are welcome. Supplies are includ-
ed in the beginning. There is no
charge.
A troupe of local entertainers meets
at 1 p.m. each Wednesday for the
afternoon social. Broadway tunes and
Yiddish melodies are presented.
Refreshments are served. There is a
nominal charge.

Multiethnic
Concert Set

The American Jewish Committee,
Detroit Chapter, a cosponsoring mem-
ber of New Detroit's Cultural
Exchange Network, will be a co-host
of a free multiethnic "Concert of Col-
ors" 3-9 p.m. Sunday, July 12, at
Chene Park in Detroit. Chene Park is
located on the riverfront in downtown
Detroit one mile east of the Renais-
sance Center.
The concert will highlight Diblo
Dibala one of Zaire's guitarists and
arrangers; Ulali, a Native American
women's a cappella group; Machito,
an Afro-Cuban orchestra; Hamid
Baroudi, an Algerian rock and rai
artist; and Mai Moua, "The Golden
Voice from Laos."
Children's activities and vendor
tables will be open at 2 p.m. For

Mitzvah Event

Scholarships are available for the 1998
Shusterman International Leaders
Assembly in Honesdale, Pa., Aug. 25-
30. Students who attend colleges in
the metro Detroit area are invited to
attend this national conference. Dead-
line for registration is Aug. 7. Call

HMD's social action committee
will sponsor "Build a House, Build a
Life" to help renovate a house in
downtown Detroit Sunday, July 19.
Meet at the JCC in Oak Park at 8:30
