Rabbi Schwartz Heads Board Rabbi Dannel I. Schwartz, spiritual leader of Temple Shir Shalom, is the newly elected president of the Michigan Board of Rabbis. Other newly elected officers include Rabbi Daniel Nevins of Adat Shalom Synagogue, vice president; and Rabbi Paul Yedwab of. Rabbi Dannel I. Temple Israel, Schwartz treasurer. A rabbi for 25 years, Schwartz is founding rabbi of Temple Shir Shalom. He's past presi- dent of the Birmingham Bloomfield Clergy Council and has served on the boards of Jewish Family Service, the Jewish National Fund, the Union of American Hebrew Congregations Department of Education, the United Jewish Appeal Rabbinic Cabinet, the National Conference for Community and Justice (formerly known as the Detroit Interfaith Round Table), the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Forgotten Harvest. Schwartz is author of several books and has served as a technical consultant on Jewish mystical prac- tices to the television show "The X Files." Rabbi Marla J. Feldman, assistant director for domestic concerns for the Jewish Community Council of Metropolitan Detroit, is executive director of the Michigan Board of Rabbis. The Michigan Board of Rabbis is comprised of Orthodox, Conservative, Reconstructionist, Reform and Humanistic rabbis serv- ing the Jewish communities of Michigan.
