Erica Rossmoore of L'Anse Creuse
High School in Mount Clemens said
she was looking forward to shopping.
"I want to buy a bunch of tee shirts,
go to Ben and Jerry's and swim in the
Dead Sea," she said.
Jeff Levine of West Bloomfield
High said he was following in the
footsteps of his two older brothers
who also went to Israel as teenagers.
"They told me it's a really great place
— lots of culture and history, but stay
away from the drinking," he said.

Of course the takeoff was not
completely glitch-free. One teen,
Adam Duchemin of Grand Rapids,
arrived — sweaty and exhausted —
only minutes before boarding time
because he had accidentally gone to
the wrong terminal.
"What was nice was when we
came downstairs and the first thing
we heard was 'Adam, don't run, it's
okay,"' said his dad, Steve, as he
watched the plane take off.
