public celebration.
This year, join the crowds for fes-
tive feasts, summery celebrations and
the carefree laid-back sense that comes
from a few days off.

The Fireworks Extravaganza is set

the Motor City Brass Band. Fireworks
start at 10:10. Residents can cool off
for free at the Southfield Splash Bash
from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on July 4 at both
of Southfield's outdoor pools.

Michigan TasteFest will keep you
busy in the New Center area of
Detroit as West Grand Blvd. between
Woodward and the Lodge is blocked
off for a variety of food booths and

KidShows — including Maureen
Shiffman's Animal Fair at 3 p.m.
Friday and Gemini at 2 p.m. and 4
p.m. Saturday — are set-for July 3-5.
Musical headliners include Ziggy,
Marley, Boney James, Los Lobos, Jan
Krist, Jill Jack, Twistin' Tarantulas,
Mudpuppy and more, with over' 50
free shows on four stages.
