JPM Hosts
Varied Programs

Pianist David Syme will appear at
7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at
Rothstein Parkin the first of Oak
Park's Summer Concert Series. This
program is free of charge; bring a
blanket or lawn chair.
Cafe Europa Detroit will be held
at 12:45 p.m. Monday, June 29, at
the JPM. Live entertainment will be
presented by Laura and Ted
Schwartz. This program is for
Holocaust survivors, families and
friends. Donations will be accepted.
An Independence Day celebration
of patriotic song will be at 1 p.m.
Thursday, July 2, with Robin Beck.
There is no charge.
The Yiddish Film Series will show,
Two Sisters at 12:45 p.m. Monday,
July 6. (There will not be a Sunday
evening showing.) There is no
charge.
For Women Only will meet every
Thursday. The next meeting will be
10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 2.
Torah classes will be taught from
10 to 11 a.m. every Wednesday by
Shoshana Ben Ozer. Read a portion
of the Torah every week and discuss
the ethics, laws and implications.
There is no charge.
The weekly program "Meeting of
the Minds," conducted by Dave
Weiner and Sidney Miller, is held at
10:30 a.m. every Thursday to discuss
local, national and international
events. There is no charge.

Sisterhood

Congregation Shir Tikvah's

Sisterhood elected its leaders for the
upcoming year. The 1998-99 board
is as follows: president, Karen
Rappleye; vice-president, Marsha
Fershtman; treasurer, Phyllis Kolko;
corresponding secretary, Edith
Bernstein; recording secretary, Gloria
Chadwick; programming chairper-
son, Martha Pollack; and sisterhood
board representative, Nancy Gross.
Sisterhood presented several dona-
tions to the congregation. $12,000
to help defray the cost of kitchen
equipment in Shir Tikvah's new
building. A separate check for $500
was given to help pay for library fur-
niture. The Family Education pro-
gram was also a beneficiary of a
check for $500.
