this patriotic parade features a '50s
theme and includes local bands that
specialize in '50s music — the Teen
Angels, the Laredos and Steve King
and the Dittlies. Huge helium filled
balloons, a canine drill team, the
newly crowned Miss Michigan and
interactive bleacher seating with gift
bags round out the fun.

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra,
conducted by Leslie B. Dunner, per-
forms 8:30 p.m. in sixth annual
Salute to America concerts on the

Village Green. The U.S. Army Field
Band and Chorus lead off the pro-
gram at 7:30 p.m., and fireworks con-
clude each concert. Grounds open at 7
p.m. Food concessions will be avail-
able, and food and non-alcoholic bev-
erages in non-glass containers may be
brought onto the field. $18 adults/$9
children 5-12. Parking is free.
