Bar/Bat Mitzvahs

Kate Matlen

Kate Suzanne Maslen of Birmingham
became bat mitzvah at the Birmingham
Temple on Saturday, June 1. The festivi-
ties continued
afterward at the
Townsend Hotel.
Kate is the
daughter of Terry
and Jerry Maslen
and the sister of
Mackenzie. She is
the granddaughter
of Helen and Nor-
man Wachler. She
is also the granddaughter of the late
Goldie Matlen, Moses Matlen and
William Zolkower.
A seventh grader at the Roeper
School, Kate enjoys piano and singing,
roller-blading and writing. Her mitzvah
project was volunteering at the Fleish-
man Residence and helping at the
Birmingham Temple. She also plans to
