udd Rose does not hide from
controversy. More often than
not, he seeks it out.
As an investigative reporter
for ABC's "Nightline," Rose covered
the Middle East in the '80s, when the
program could only get Israelis and
Palestinians on the same panel by
pitting a wall between them.
In the early '90s, when Coleman
Young was still mayor of Detroit, Rose
reported on crime in the city for
"Prime Time Live" and incurred so
much wrath from the mayor and his
friends that he faced Motor City pick-
eters in front of ABC studios in New
York.
Less than two years ago, for the
same series, he got very personal,
reporting on cancer — his own, Sam
Donaldson's and many others'.
Rose fought a tough fight and now
is in good health, eager to begin a new
series with a new spin on controversy
— the world of entertainment.
Rose is co-anchor with Willow Bay
of "NewsStand: CNN and Entertain-
ment Weekly," which airs 10-11 p.m.
Thursdays on CNN/U.S. The pro-
gram is a look into the business of
entertainment and the people, issues
and products that shape popular cul-
ture. It offers audiences inside infor-
mation, critical evaluations and com-
mentary.
"This is a show that represents the

43, whose

him to aban-

work in televi-
sion and radio.
