FDA Approves
Bone Density
Device

Jerusalem (JPFS) — The US Food
and Drug Administration (FDA) has
approved Rehovot-based Myriad
Ultrasound Systems' pre-market
application for its SoundScan Com-
pact and SoundScan 2000 bone
sonometers.
The devices use quantitative ultra-
sound to detect subtle changes in
bone quality and are used to diagnose
osteoporosis and other bone diseases.
The SoundScan does not expose
patients to ionizing radiation and
does not require a licensed x-ray tech-
nician in a hospital setting.
The system, lightweight and
portable, can be easily operated by
physicians in small clinics and private
offices.

Royal Oak Applauds
Building Renovation

Gordon Management was honored
for a $1 million improvement to the
building Mary and Joseph Gordon
bought in the 1930s.
The Greater Royal Oak Chamber
of Commerce bestowed the honor at
its 50th annual community awards
banquet in May. The Gordons now
live in Laguna Hills, Calif. Their son,
Sheldon, Gordon Management's chief
executive officer, accepted the award.
Gordon Management, which man-
ages real estate, expanded the one-
story building at 115 S. Main St. by a
story and a half, boosting square
footage from 3,850 to 9,000. The
firm moved into the upper levels last
summer. Antiques On Main occupies
the ground level.
Schneider Smith Architects of
Royal Oak handled design for the
expansion.
Joseph Gordon opened a tailor
shop in the building during the '30s.
His dream was to open a men's cloth-
ing store there. His sons, Fred and
Sheldon, later fulfilled that dream.
