But not just any food. He wants the food'he doesn't normally, guilelessly eat throughout the year. Dad wants food with no restrictions. So Spillman wants HoHos and Caesar salad, while he's at it, with lots of croutons and Parmesan cheese. Yet another papa dreams of strawberry shortcake with Haagen Daaz ice- cream — the full-fat version. A third dad wants comfort food, like chicken pot-pie, the size of a pumpkin, all day long. More than a few other dads lust for thick, juicy steak. Still others yearn for twice-baked potatoes with lots of butter, sour cream and cheese. One dad wanted nothing but super, sinful devil's food cake, Lord help him. Keep the following food rules in mind, and you'll give dad the perfect Father's Day he'll never forget: • No food restrictions; save the grilled chicken and fish for every other day. • Throw away the schedules; let dad eat when he wants to. • No command performance on a hot, smoky grill. Forget the tie, give a pie. Forget the clubs, give salami chubs. Don't have a party, feed him something hearty. Do it dad's way, just this once. The following sides and desserts go with steak. They go with that big, fat Best's Kosher hot dog. And they're good for breakfast, lunch or dinner. For a snack? Spillman wants Host- ess. STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Strawberry filling: 10 cups sliced or halved strawberries 1 cup sugar Mix half the berries with sugar and place in a large pot over medium heat. Heat until the sugar is dissolved and the strawberries are softened. Remove from heat, add remaining strawberries and let the mixture cools. May be made with a combination different berries or fruits. Makes 8-10 servings. Shortcake: 1 3/4 cups flour 2 t. baking powder 1/2 t. salt 4 T. (1/2 stick) butter or margarine cut into pieces 3/4 cup orange juice Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place flour, baking powder and salt in the bowl of a food processor. Process for 5 seconds. Add butter and process for another 10 seconds. Add 3/4 juice and process 5-10 seconds more. Dough should be slightly sticky. Spread dough onto a floured board. Cut with cookie cutters into rounds and place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden. Serve with strawberries, a lit-
