Latte & Learning adult study series
led by Rabbi Aaron Bergman and

Tuition for members of the spon-
soring organizations (Congregations

servative Judaism-Michigan Branch) is
$5 per session. Tuition for others is $7
per session. No reservations are neces-
sary, and students may register at the
door. Each session will be designed to
be self-contained and can be attended
and enjoyed independently of the oth-

Hillel of Metro Detroit will host the
"Canoe Rendezvous and BBQ" on
Sunday, June 28. Participants will
meet at Argo Park in Ann Arbor at 2
p.m. and canoe to Gallup Park for a
BBQ, games, and music. Optional
paddleboat and bicycle rentals are
available at Gallup Park. Non-canoers
can meet for the BBQ at Gallup Park

The 1998 Schusterman Hillel
International Leaders Assembly will
be held Aug. 25-30, at Camp Mosha-
va in Honesdale, Pa. The Leaders
Assembly allows Jewish students to
meet other student leaders from
Hillels across the country, develop
leadership skills, and discuss issues
facing Jewish students. Students
from any of the HMD campuses are
eligible to attend. Scholarships are
available. Registration deadline is
Aug. 1.

Financial Aid
For College

Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) will
host a parent informational meeting
on the Jewish Education Loan Service
(JELS) and additional financial aid
options for college students 7 p.m.
Tuesday, June 23, in the JVS library in
Southfield.
JELS Coordinator Marvin Berman
will discuss how to apply for an inter-
est-free loan offered through JELS.
JELS is open to metro Detroit area Jew-
ish residents and is administered
through JVS, Hebrew Free Loan Associ-
ation and Jewish Federation of Metro-
politan Detroit. Dr. Berman will also
address the availability of financial assis-
tance through state, federal, institution-
al and private sources. Although the
meeting will be directed toward parents,
students are welcome to attend.

Yad Ezra
Contest Winners

Yad Ezra recently sponsored a city-
wide greeting card contest for children
ages 5-15. Winning artists are: Abbie
Schrier and Megan Bebchuk from
Hillel Day School; Chasida Gross
from Akiva Hebrew Day School, and
Matt Saretsky from Temple Kol Ami.
The cards will be reprinted onto greet-
ing cards that will be sold by Yad Ezra
in September for Rosh Hashanah.
