the Book Fair," she said. "I'm training
someone new and will have plenty of
time to train a new department head
should someone be hired."
The new staff person-in-training is
cultural events director Amy Brode.
Like Lipsey, she is entering her first
job after finishing her master's degree
from Case 'Western Reserve
University in Cleveland.
"I did program development work
at the Jewish Family Service
Association in Cleveland, so I have all
the skills to run a Book Fair. I just
haven't yet," said Brode, a native of
Birmingham. "There is a lot of great
lay leadership to learn from, and

there's still Nancy to train me for
another three months."
Greenapple has been with the
Center since February 1997, when
she was named the director of the
new Judaic enrichment department.
"I felt that I wanted to find some-
thing that was more appropriate for
my personal and professional goals,"
she said. "As great a job as this is, all
the facets weren't balanced."
She is looking at other positions
in the area as a Jewish educator, but
would not disclose which ones.
"What my expectations may have
been have evolved. A lot has hap-
pened here and the JCC has accom-
plished a lot. The evolution has pro-
gressed differently than I had
expected."
Greenapple will be staying on at
her post for part of, if not all of, the
summer.
Weitzer is hoping to have a
replacement in time for Greenapple
to help with training. If Greenapple
or Lipsey leaves the Center before a
replacement is found, Weitzer will fill
those roles herself on an interim
basis.
