"People are telling us something,"
she said. "We have a product they
want to see."
However, the WNBA does have
some competition. The American
Basketball League began in the fall
of 1996, and the two leagues share
the talent pool.
"It divides the talent, but both
have great players," Lieberman-
Cline said. "I would like to see
everyone together, but if the glass is
half full, it means hundreds of new
jobs for women, and basketball is

letes on Detroit's 15-16-year-old
Maccabi basketball team for this
summer's Games ("Making Histo-
ry," June 5).

Doubles Tourney
Comes To WB

West Bloomfield Parks and Recre-
ation is hosting a doubles tennis
tournament July 10-12 at the new
Drake Sports Park in West Bloom-
field.
The tournament is double elimi-
nation so that everyone gets two
matches. The tournament offers six
divisions: 18 to 34 years old and
over-35 for men, women and mixed
teams.
The cost is $20 per team and the
registration deadline is July 2. To
