to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Sat-
urday, June 13, at Congregation Ohel
Moed. He is the
son of Helen and
Jeffrey Garden
and the brother of
Bradley. Proud
grandparents are
Rabbi Hershel
and Harriet Gar-
den and Joseph
and Rena
Berman.
Jason is an honor student at Hillel
Day School. He plays tennis and bas-
ketball for Hillel and has recently been
named to the table tennis team for the
upcoming Maccabi games. Jason
enjoys sharing his time with the JARC
residents in his neighborhood.

Melissa Marcus
Melissa Gayle Marcus will become a
bat mitzvah on Saturday, June 13, at
Temple Israel. She is the daughter of
Andrea and Ken-
neth Marcus, sis-
ter of Stephanie
and Laura. She is
also the grand-
child of the late
Gloria and Marc
Bess and the late
Melita and
Samuel Marcus.
Attending
Orchard Lake Middle School where
she is an honor student and plays flute
in the symphony band, Melissa enjoys
ice skating, reading, the computer,
music and films. She volunteered at an
ice show, assisting emotionally and
physically challenged children and
donated to the Jewish National Fund
as part of her mitzvah projects.

Maggie Lee
Maggie Rachel Lee will become a bat
mitzvah on Saturday, June 13, at Tern-
ple Kol Ami. Maggie is the daughter
of Ilene and
Anthony Lee, the
sister of Daniel
Lee, Suzanne Lee
and Paula For-
man, and the
granddaughter of
Claire Grosberg.
Maggie is a
seventh grade
honor student at
Warner Middle School where she is

first chair clarinet in seventh grade
concert band. She enjoys skiing, danc-
ing, swimming and going to Olin
Sang Ruby Union Institute Camp
every summer.
Maggie's mitzvah projects included
volunteering at the Farmington Hills
Public Library, volunteering at vari-
ous programs at temple, visiting a
nursing home, knitting a lap pad for
a senior in a nursing home and col-
lecting monies for America Cancer
Society.

Brian Kirsch
Brian Samuel Kirsch will celebrate
his bar mitzvah at Temple Israel on
Saturday, June 13. He is the son of
Cherie and Alan
Kirsch, brother
of Sara and
grandchild of
Carolyn and Sey-
mour Kirsch and
Edith Farkas and
the late Boris
Farkas.
A Berkshire
Middle School
student, Brian is interested in tae
kwando, basketball, wrestling and
collecting sports memorabilia. His
favorite mitzvah project involved
helping at Temple Israel's Media
Center. In addition, he volunteered
for the American Cancer Society,
contributed to the Jewish Federation
for Abused Women and Children
and will donate food baskets to Yad
Ezra.

Rachel Kahan
Rachel Pauline Kahan will be called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Friday,
June 12, at Temple Shir Shalom. She
is the daughter of
Jane and Sidney
Kahan, sister of
Jessica. Proud
grandparents are
Marilyn and Allan
Jawitz of Tucson,
Ariz., and Grace
and William
Kahan of Delray
Beach, Fla.
Rachel is an honor student at
Warner Middle school and plays clar-
inet and bassoon in the band. She
enjoys basketball and volleyball and is
looking forward to her fourth summer
at Camp Tanuga. Rachel's mitzvah
projects included spending time at Yad
Ezra and COTS and working as a
teacher's aide in a fifth grade Sunday
school classroom.
