Funds raised by the event will help furnish the synagogue's educa- tion center currently under construc- tion. Third and fourth graders in Beth Shalom's religious school will sing songs from Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. Six Beth Shalom high school students will perform the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber along with the Michigan Opera The- atre troupe. Beth El Brotherhood David Schwartz will begin his second term as president of the Temple Beth El Brotherhood when he and fellow officers are honored at the brother- hood's annual installation dinner. A past president of Temple Beth Jacob in Pontiac, Schwartz joined Beth El when the Pontiac congregation closed its doors. He continued his commitment to volunteerism, imme- diately taking an active role in the Beth El Brotherhood where he served as a vice president prior to assuming the presidency in 1997.
