HMC Trains
New Docents
ow
ow
The Holocaust Memorial Center
(HMC) will start a new docent training
session 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, at
the HMC, 6602 West Maple Road,
West Bloomfield.
Docents guide groups on walking
tours through the HMC, explain the
exhibits and interpret the history and
lessons of the Holocaust.
The HMC conducts an ongoing
training program coordinated by
docent Judy Miller, an HMC board
member and a retired teacher. Partici-
pants view videos, read assigned books
and articles and share the experiences
of seasoned docents. A one-on-one
walk-through tour with a member of
the docent training committee com-
pletes the program.
The training program normally lasts
several weeks, but it can be tailored to
meet participants' needs and schedules.
Future docents can complete their
training at their own pace. Once they
have finished the program, they can
choose the day or days on which they
would like to serve.
Anyone interested should call HMC
administrator Selma Silverman, (248)
661-0840, for information.
