of Jewish egg farmers might sound
a little odd now, but in fact for
many years members of the Jewish
community were leaders in agri-
culture. One of these was Dr.
Arthur Goldhaft, a veterinarian
raised in New Jersey. During the
1920s, Dr. Goldhaft developed
vaccines for chickens that would
benefit farmers everywhere. So far
as we know, however, no Jewish
farmers have stepped forward to
once and for all answer that vex-
ing question about the chicken
and the egg.
